I have finally got around to editing a quick video from our trip to Lossiemouth in Scotland back in May 2009. It’s a real pity that I didn’t have an HD camcorder at that time. It’s a great place to visit for plane geeks as you get so close to the action. Tornados all day long is brilliant!

In the past few weeks I have deployed another instance of concrete5, the amazing CMS that is taking the opensource CMS world by storm. This time I am working with Stephen from BoldIMC, an exciting new marketing agency based in Belfast. Most of the design has been put together by Stephen himself including all the site images and catchy graphics. As I use this CMS more and more it just becomes more of a pleasure to use each time. Deployment is a breeze, creating themes is a doddle, and overriding classes to provide little extra functions here and there is cool too. Now you don’t need a massive development cycle to get an online presence established. Just deploy concrete5, knock up a theme and off you go. Obviously you can do things the ‘proper’ way too but that isn’t essential for a small 5 page site like this. You can find more about BOLD at www.boldimc.com

I have just grabbed my copy of this new book fairly recently and must say it is a great read. I have already picked up so many tips that I hadn’t even heard of before. Only have done a few chapters so far but it really is a great reference book. I do plan reading it all but it will take more than a few days! The book is very well written and a good easy read provided you do have a good general knowledge of what SharePoint is about. I have worked with Veli in the past so must congratulate him and the other writers on a well produced book – Well worth the ~£20 price tag!

I have recently finished a web project with RTU Mortar based in Newtonabbey. The new website was built on the concrete5 CMS platform and provides an excellent set of features for the end users.  All the site content and the final appearance is controlled by RTU themselves but the core was extended to provide the functionality they require to maintain an easily updatable, dynamic CMS. I am planning to revamp things slightly on my website due to the fact that I don’t have much time these days for the web design hobby but still want to maintain a list of some of the sites I have worked on. I think I will use the blog for this. Another site I have built fairly recently is a new photography portfolio for Stephen Caldwell.

The site is built with PHP and uses custom code to build up galleries/slideshow features. The plan is to add some additional functionality in the form of a WordPress Blog to make things much easier to manage news articles and site updates.
