Blog

Been a while since I posted anything in the blog but wanted to share a new(ish) and exciting CMS called Concrete5. This is an absolutely outstanding system which is free of charge. I have tried all the others in the past but this CMS is truly special. The dashboard is where everything happens such as file management, page design, site configuration and security settings.

Editing pages in C5 is made easy with the in-page editing features. I am currently in the process of building a system for a client who wanted the end result to be an easily updateable system which is easy to update and maintain. I am sure C5 is the best tool for the job.The C5 marketplace is a great place to download themes and addons which offer extra functionality on top of those features that are standard. Anything you need to do is possible with this great CMS.

For developers, it is easy to code your own functionality and package it as blocks or packages which can be submitted to the marketplace for others to use. With C5, developers have the opportunity to utilise its application framework for extending the core functions. It is possible to use the built in helper classes to extend many of the custom feature blocks which come with the product.

Hopefully my first implementation of C5 will be released soon – it really has changed the way I build websites. Once a basic theme has been built you can have a site online in no time at all.

So in summary, Concrete5 gives you the ability to present the end user with an easy-to-update content management system, while for developers the ability to add your own themes and functionality make this one a sure winner.
