Since sampling Microsoft Flight Simulator 98 at a relatives house, I have owned every version of MSFS to date. After some long training flights in the small props to progressing on to the bigger jets like the PMDG 737, it all has been a great experience. With many addons available now it really is as real as it gets.
One of the most realistic aspects of flight sim is the ability to fly online. The VATSIM group is a fantastic way of flying online with other people in a virtual Air Traffic Control environment. Controllers must pass entrance exams before they can control the virtual skies so it is very realistic with all the jargon used as in the real world!
In order to get recognition for the hours I fly, I have joined up to British Airways Virtual. BAV was the first virtual airline to get recognition from its real-world counterpart. BAV is a very good setup with many great features and software products to enable easy flying of both online and offline flights.
